Silent Day on March 2012
We would like to inform all of you that on Friday 23rd March 2012 is Nyepi Day (Silence Day), a day of silence and contemplation.
It will be no arrival and departure flight from/to Bali due to a celebration for the New Year of Balinese calendar, which falls usually in March.
On Nyepi Day, people are not allowed to go out on the street, no fires are light, no light at night, no loud voices, visiting and entertainment are not permitted and people stay at home to meditate.
It starts from 6 am, 23th – 6 am, 24th.
One day before nyepi day on the 22nd, it will be a great purification ceremony and a parade of terrifying effigies named Ogoh-Ogoh to chase away demons.
Usually starts at around 2 pm onward, usually it finish around 11pm.
